DemiCon Happened and Stuff…and Things

Possible Oscar, Bud Sharpe Edition, has returned from the furtive plains of Iowa intact. Let us get some notes on Iowa out of the way before delving into my performance notes:

    • Not all of Iowa smells of manure, just sections of I-35
    • Iowa needs about 35 years for the wind-breaking trees to grow larger before it is truly habitable
    • Is it a common activity in Iowa to buy 40 oz. cans of Bud Light at midnight on a Sunday night?
    • West Des Moines is, in fact, not part of central Florida, despite its Spanish-inspired architecture

Alright, back to the PO stuff. We (I) performed at DemiCon 19 this past weekend, and for the most part, it was a success. I always find it more challenging and less fun to perform without the capable Marshall Stanton at my side — it’s much more fun to have someone to riff with, which is why I spent too much time picking on Luke Ski in the front row — but I think I managed to make it through the set with only minor stumbling on lyrics and whatnot. I even made it through “A-Team” without insisting on saying “cars or helicopters” when the line is clearly “planes or helicopters” because, yeah, BA doesn’t like to fly but doesn’t bristle at a Sunday drive.

Much thanks to everyone who managed to attend the show. More thanks to Eric Coleman for having “us” on the music track, and special thanks to Gundo for supplying the best small-con sound system I have experienced so far.
